Evelyn grew up with fabrics, literally.  Her mother owned a boutique and as a child played on the floor with fabrics and later made her “pocket money” sewing finishing touches on clothing for her mother’s business.   While she has always enjoyed all types of needlework as a hobby, she spent most of her adult working life in academia.  A native of Manila, the Philippines, she came to the United States as an exchange student and obtained her graduate degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University.  She held counseling and administrative positions at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York.  It was after her retirement in 2000 that she started pursuing her love for fabrics full-time.  Making pillows, quilts, and wearable art are now her passion, fashioning them out of her extensive collection of vintage fabrics.
